Hi Bob sorry for the delay yes Fred Hil and geordie Morrison were our troop senior ranks and I think the troop commander was Paddy Mahon ??? what part of Crete are you in its a lovely island, Ive been sailing around the greek islands for the past 13 years and have now come back to Scotland to settle down again, Ive just moved into a house here and one of these days \i will sort my old photos out and attempt to get them on here. Anyway cheers for now Sandy.
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I do remember the canvas canoe (with patches) and how we struggled at Devies. Went on visit to Ranby Prison this year to see the only billet huts left and our billet was still there before they demolish the last of them. Paddy Lynch, Bobby Morrison, Bill Robertson and a few oldies also were there.Where do you live now? Met Pete Bowskill who drives for Wilkinsons at Gamston. Great to hear from you.
Many years ago we served together in 'B' Troop at Ranby, happy days, good to hear you are well as Ranbyites are getting fewer. Farmer Dunn and Doc Halliday live near me here in the North East. Sadly my friend Mike (Mary) Hayler passed away afew years ago still have contact with Al Sibley. Drop me a line.
Hi Bob, long time no see. I think the last time saw you was when I was living in Strood about 15 years ago and you were driving for DFDS. Shame I see that you are going back home before the reunion, as it would have been great to see you. Regards Brian.
Hiya Bob, nice to see another "old Ranbyite" on the site. I first met you at the TA centre park up at Barnet, one frosty Saturday morning in 1967. I was No2 to Brian Fullerton, on our way to FVRDE Chertsey, and you were on your way back to Ranby.
I remember it so well because you were having a large Vindaloo spring roll for breakfast, and when I said I had never had a taste of a "proper curry" before, you gave me a chunk...... Burnt me going in and burnt me coming out.......Still makes my eyes water just thinking about it!
It gave me a taste for curry, but I've never had one as hot since!
