Hi Stacey,
Sorry it has taken so long to reply but i was in Mexico when you made contact.
I seved with your Dad in Bulford (19 Sqn) and have fond memories of that period.
Because he was a qualified medic his nickname became nurse Bain. I recall an incident when we were on a 5 week drag to Pembroke Dock in wales. We had a weekend off in the middle of it and we went into the Town to do some washing in a local launderete.
We soon got bored watching our dirty socks going round and round so we decided to visit a loacal hostillary known as the Edinborough Hotel. We met some of our mates in there and one thing led to another and we ended up decidedly wobbly. I must say we managed to pick up our washing. It was a really hot summer and we decided we would go down to the Dock and watch the boats. we sat down at the quayside and both fell asleep. At some point a big hairey dog took it upon itself to get in between us and join us in our catnap (scuse the pun). About an hour later unbeknown to us our officer commanding decided to take a stroll down to the Dock and was greeted by the sight of me and your dad flat out with our arms round the biggest blackist dog in the whole of south Wales. He decided to invetigate and our new companion decided it would do the honourable thing and protect his new found slumbering companions and promptly went for him!!!!! Your dad and I also did the honourable thing and pretended to be still asleep. We, over th next week, peeled every single potato that the whole of Nato possesed.
God bless you Peter

Hi Stacy I went to Canada, but car'nt remember Pete being there its proberbly my bad memory. I remember taking a flag down ( i think it was some regt, in Munster) but we replaced it with a pair of knickers, ( DONT GO THERE) We were trying to pinch a helicopter and put it on one of our transporters. You wouldnt believe some of the things we got up to. Il have a look to see if i have any more photos of your dad, it might take a while as chritsmas is nearly upon us. Take care say high to your mam. Regards Roger

Hi Stacy, Its nice to hear from you , yes i knew your dad very well he was a good mate. I knew him when we were in Fallingbostel. I was there from 1974 till 1980, dont remember when your dad got there. Me and your dad spent 4 months in Northen Ireland at moscow camp, billeted with another good lad Ray Veasey, we were all on Q cars. I remember christmas there,I made some paper hats out of newspaper, and your dad recieved a christmas cake in the post from his mum ,I think. We had a couple of cans of beer , thats all we were allowed. Any way we had a good laugh , but thats what your dad was good at allways having a laugh. I am sure there will be lots of other lads who will have stories about your dad but this is my most memorable. Strangley enough I have just returned from a trip to fallingbostle, it brought back lots of fond memories of your dad and all our mates.

Best wishes to you and all your family, feel free to contact me at anytime.
Roger
