Alfie 4

Typical Alfie, his goldfish named "Bunjie" (after Staff Bunclark) had just died, so he organised it's burial at sea, (flushed down the loo at Bulford)

Mick Bruce

Chaz Chapman is trying to find the family of Mick Bruce.

Mick was killed in Belfast on 31. 5. 1972. Any help would be appreciated, and I will pass any info received onto Chaz.

Barney.

Hi Barney,

Good to hear from you, book is full. Have sent you a pm which details the situation more accurately.

Just in case someone reads your earlier post about Waterstones or Amazon stocking it, it is because as soon as you apply for an ISBN number which every book has to have, somehow the 'big boys" pick it up and start advertising it, without any reference to us!

Best wishes,

Mike.

Hey Barney, that is sad news about Geordie Brennan. A great bloke. I knew him at 19Sqn. The last time I saw him he was Master Driver London District at Regent Park Bks.

Hi John, hope you and yours are all well. Have just today, posted another 40+ photos on the site. Haven't had time to add names as yet but will do in the next few days. If you get ten minutes to spare, have a look because there are several of your old mate "Whistling Jack Atherton" I have told Jack that he looks like a SAGa holiday rep on the ones outside the bar! Regardes, Bob Allen.

Hi John, I was in Ctp 19 Sqn 71-75. As for Alfie he had a fall the week before the reunion. He suffered a fractured skull with a bleed on the brain. He also had a breathing tube put in his throat. They put him in an induced coma because of the bleed. He opened his eyes from the coma a couple of weeks ago and they took the tube out last Thursday. They will be putting him into a general ward in the next couple of day's. He still has a way to go but improves daily. Regards Brian.

Hi John,

I think we were quite lucky in the sense that we did not spend much time in the camp, we had often weeks away on the road, getting our laundry delivered by a 1 tonner & wages every Monday via the nearest Post Office, which could be a bit tricky sometimes if we ran out of cash, more than once!!

Enjoyed Smoky Joe's cafe in Retford & many of the girls were not against buying us a drink if we had spent all our extra allowance of £6 weekly,

  Syd
