Hi Jack, don't think you will remember me but I remember you well. Just been looking at your pics and I think thats me on the right stood next to Jock Cunningham in the doorway. We were both Nat Service. We were at Senne 1960-63.I have only recently joined the site, fantastic !Been in contact With "Barney" recently.Told him you arrived at Senne when we were there and had a laugh about you not being able to kick the habit of swinging your hips when marching as you had to do in the GAURDS in order to get your kilts Swinging from side to side. CSM Morgan ( I think) one day said " Atherton, will you stop f----ng marching like a tart! It caused quite a laugh at the time.
Barney had been looking at my pics and spotted you on the one where Donga Donnelly had bogged his Antar down thats how we came into contact. Glad to see you looking a picture of health Jack and long may you do so. I will keep an Eye on your site. Regardes, Bob Allen.

Hi Jack, Nice to hear from someone I looked up to as a Young Driver. Remember your good sense of Humour especially when you asked someone what they were before they joined the Army and they replied Happy Sir. Are you still playing with clocks in your retirement. Visited Australia last year, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney as my Daughter was backpacking over there for 2 years, Lovely place and can see why your there. Best Wishes Ian (Smiler)
Thanks for the reply. Ref Roy Langley he died aabout 3 years ago of a brain tumor. Unfortunately him and Sandra never attempted to keep in touch even though we were close friends in the Ranby days.
My family are all well with my youngest daughter living in New Zealand and my eldest 2 minutes down the road from us in Sunderland.
Glad to see you and your family well and that living in Austalia has benefited them and you. I thank you for helping me get a posting and ended up as WOII (TQMS) at Grantham under a person you know Capt Jack Genever and on completion of 23years joined the TA and was commisioned as Capt(QM) whilst serving as a Prison Officer for 12 years. Now bored to hell with retirement!!
Saw Bill Robertson at Ranby Prison open day for old randy sweats, Bob Morrison, Paddy Lynch, Al Sibley but to name a few were there as they are demolishing the last of the old billet blocks and a Prison Officer who is interested in the history of Ranby organised a walk round and lunch.
