Hiya Phil, I remember him, Guards type moustache, he always seemed a nice bloke. Didn't Jim Brown or Jim Case follow him as SSM?

Hope all is well,

Just read in the Waggon Master of the passing of Maj PD Quinn MBE. Anyone at Ranby in the mid 60s will remember him as the SSM. Transferred in from the guards I seem to remember. rumour had it he would sit in the barbers chair and demand "same as yesterday".  I came across him in 1980 when he was QM of 10 UDR  and as MD at HQNI I was sent to do his annual MT inspection. Totally different person without his pace stick and a nice guy, remember having a long chat with him about some of the characters that blessed 19 Sqn in those days.

So very sad to here of Bob Morris passing. I knew him from my days in Sennerlager 58-61, we were both DT,and Antar drivers, section commanders and B1 specialists as were many others, but his knowledge of the job put him amoungst the best. He will be remembered through his photographs and comments and for me the only time I met him after Senne was the reunion at Stoke we both attended and the few times we spoke on Skype. Condolences to his vast family and the many friends that knew him on this site, from one big wheeler to anoughter, cheers, Mate.

Deepest sympathy to all Dibb's family and all who had the the fortune to have known him.

Dibbs was on a rear party at Fally and named the bar The Winchester after the drinking den on the program Minder staring Arthur Daily, need I say more, much Asbach Brandy consumed and a the lovable rouge of 16 Tk Tp Tr Sqn. was born and continued to entertain at 617 in Hamm when posted there. I left the army from there and lost contact. RIP Dibbs you will be sadly missed. Don Reynolds

Gutted to hear abouts Dibbs, only just a got the news....a true gentleman and great character who will be sadly missed.
I first met Dibbsy on my JMQC Course in Senne, named as DB. He didn't know much about me during the first week of the course nor me anything about him, however due to a shortage of Deutch Marks in my wallet, I needed to get to the bank as it was fast approaching the weekend. Without hesitation he just said ' how much do you want? I'll lend you it.....and he did!'
I've never forgotten the kind offer from the Samaratan called DB - and I told him the story when I went to the re union the other year and bought him a drink to say thank you.

Rest in peace Dibbsy....an amazing guy and legend.

At our last reunion I made a point of saying Goodbye to Neil(until we meet again). Dibbsy has to be commended for turning up. It was fairly clear to see Neil did not have long left on this earth. Isn't that just typical of him eh! A Thank You to Neil's brother and wife for attending with Neil. Dibbsy you were a star down here and I'm sure just as big a one up there.

Very quickly..... In 2009 I was attending a force briefing (Gwent Police) in Cwmbran South Wales. A joint operation with police, trading standards, benefits, border agency, customs, DVLA. In walks the DVLA -"DIBBS".  He spotted me across the briefing room. Dibbsy shouted. "Eh Marsy How you doing, wheres the f****** bar then?". We had a good laugh and chat. When the briefing was over the local commander called me over and said, " Who the hell was that?" All that was said was "Sir that was DIBBSY".
