Well said Jack. He always had time for blokes like me, who were straight out of basic training and didn't have clue.

Alan was one of the best guys you ever meet. He knew his job inside out and was always willing to help others.
I knew Alan for many years while serving mainly in 23.
My condolences to Alan's family .Again he will be sadly missed by all who knew him but never forgotten.

More sad news from the world of tank transporting.I first met Alan in April 1970 when I was posted to 23 Sqn Sennelager .Alan was always prepared to give you his time in order to help you if needed.Always smiling and having a joke or two with the lads he made you feel part of the family.I last met Alan at the Retford reunion last year and even after 40 odd years he still had time for a chat about the old days.He will be missed by all those who knew or served with him.My condolences to his family at this sad time.RIP Alan it was a real pleasure knowing you.

I have just found out that John (Wee Jock) Handley passed away in October 2015 after a long and brave fight against cancer. I contacted his son through Facebook. John was our Best Man at our wedding in 1968 but have not heard from him for a few years. We served together at 23 Squadron RCT in Sennelager 1966 - 1970. He was a great mate and friend to me and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Our condolences to his son and daughter and his grandchildren

It is with much sadness that i have been asked to announce the passing of George (Scud) Wilson who left us last Thursday 3 November. I first met scud in Fallingbostel in 1976 when I was posted back with wife and child. He and Morag looked after us and made sure we had everything we needed at the time.During service in 16 we spent a great deal of time working and playing hard.I will miss his regular phone call when he asked how we were getting on.Always caring for someone else.We will miss you mate now you can Rest in Peace
