I am sad to report that I have just been informed of the death of Major Joe Venables by his son Darren. Joe came to the Sqn as Admin Officer when I was commanding and Paul Manning was SSM.  He was a very supportive colleague and friend to us both, those who were there at the time might remember Joe and Paul out running on a regular basis! In John May's time he moved on to be Sqn QM.  He was a very fine man and a very fine soldier and our sympathy goes out to Pat and Darren.  The funeral will take place on Thursday 25 September 2014.  We have no detail at present but John May will be keeping people informed and I will post the details on here as soon as I know them.
