This is what Heinz wrote to me as a personal message, I feel it worthy to be shared:
I was 11 years of age 1946. In our town Rendsburg, northern Germany we had a nice NAAFI, the NAAFI KIEL CLUB. It was directly on the Kiel Canal, next to a Swing Bridge. I remember, that than and a again these big Tank Transporter came through Rendsburg, stopped by the NAAFI for a Cup of tea and so. On the towing truck was a Cabin with two beds in it. At that time I could not understand, what young girls are looking for in that small cabin together with the drivers. Perhaps he showed her hes stamp collection. Ha HA. Still looking for an old pal from 22 Transport Coy RASC , stationed in Neumünster 1947 transportimg supply and bread to Schleswig, every day. with 3 to Bedford. Where is Taffy and Ginger ???? Well at the end , a nice web you have. Keep the spirit ! regards Heinz Johannsen from Rendsburg Germany.
Thank you Heinz for sharing your memories.
